Actually, when you try to play video via Windows, you will have to set a Region Code for most optical drives. Depending on the model, you can only change so many times before a setting becomes 'permanent'. This can sometimes be overcome by a firmware update for the optical drive itself. There are some models around (see below) that are 'region free'.

I want to be able to play US and european games as of now. Also, that is not region free, as stated in the many reviews. Exactly, many claim the ability, but most don't actually support the feature. If so, 2 optical drives (each set to a region) might be the easiest, most reliable means of accomplishing your requirements. I have a 'region free' DVD player in our living room (my wife likes to watch TV shows from 'down under'). Honestly, it is a bit flaky and will often misread DVDs (a restart will usually solve the problem). My nearly identical Region 1 (US) model elsewhere in the house never has the same problem.

Just something for your consideration. Well it will only be used for downloading games, i won't be using it heavily like you guys were.
