Install Eclipse on Mac OS 1. Go to to download a copy of eclipse. Out of all the listed options, you need to install Eclipse IDE for Java Developers. Upon clicking the 64 bit option, you would be redirected to a download page where you can choose the server nearest to you so that you can download faster. Simply click download button.

Your download will start automatically. Once the download is done. Go to the download folder. You will normally have an icon for the Downloads folder on the right-hand side of the dock. You would find a file named “ eclipse-java-mars-2-macosx-cocoa-x86_64.tar” ( the file name may be different based on the version you download but it should be a tar file starting with word eclipse). Drag the zipped file to the desktop and double click to open it.

The file would be unzipped with default archive utility and you would find eclipse icon on desktop. Open finder, select applications and then drag the eclipse icon from desktop the application folder in finder. The easiest way to do so is to open a new window in the Finder and click on Applications in the list you get on the left-hand side. Then drag the “ eclipse” folder in with the other applications. Make sure that you do not drag it into a folder that’s already within Applications. In other words, when you’re done, the Applications folder should have directly within it a folder named “eclipse.” 5. Now installation is done, you can now launch the eclipse by clicking the icon in applications.
